Through our family support work over many years, ACRO has become aware of the need of many young people for flexible, well-organised recreational activities, particularly during school holidays when high levels of boredom are often expressed. Many activities which young people would like to participate in were to expensive or were considerable distances from where they lived. Initially ACRO volunteers fund raised to enable one group of young people each year to attend holiday camps. However, in 1999 ACRO secured funding to enable a group of young people to take part in activities throughout all school holiday periods.

Aim : The program is designed to facilitate safe, supervised age/gender appropriate recreational activities for young people aged 12 - 15 years within an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. All activities are negotiated with young people to promote fun and enjoyment.

Cost : The program is provided free of charge with some transport assistance.

Target Group : Young people aged 12 - 15 years from backgrounds of social and or economic hardship who may have come into contact with the criminal justice system through their family background.

Program Features : The program includes both residential and non-residential components and is facilitated by young adults under twenty five.
