The ACRO JobClub began operation in 1991. During the intervening years this Club delivered jobs for released prisoners at a rate amongst the highest in the country. The service was defunded in April 1998 but still stands as an excellent reintegration program.
The ACRO JobClub was a self help workshop, aimed at assisting long term unemployed ex-prisoners and probationers or soon to be released prisoners to obtain a satisfactory job in the shortest possible time.
JobClubs in the main had a good reputation for getting long term unemployed people back into the workforce in relatively short periods and boasted success rates in the 80th percentile.
The ACRO JobClub was located at Wacol, west of Brisbane, and assisted eligible persons with their jobsearch in a more practical and professional manner than could be attained from home. The Club also assisted with referrals to retraining schemes should these be required.
