The Queen's Trust for Young Australians - proud sponsor of ATAC

The Queen Elizabeth 11 Silver Jubilee Trust for Young Australian, known as The Queen's Trust for Young Australians, was established in 1977 with donations from the Federal and State Governments, corporations, organisations and the public to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth 11. The Queen's Trust for Young Australians renders support and guidance to young Australians through the promotion of excellence, achievement, initiative, leadership and an awareness of those less fortunate.

The ATAC (Australian Teens Advocating Change) Group, auspiced by ACRO, the Australian Community Safety & Research Organisation Incorporated, was awarded a 1999 Queen's Trust Achievers Award for the purpose of "creating community service announcements dealing with substance abuse and unfair stereotyping of young people". The first of these CSA's (Community Service Announcements), an anti-drugs presentation titled 'Not One More', will be released throughout Australia during August 1999 with the second, titled 'Misperceptions' expected to be released nationally in September 1999.

The outrageous assaults on members of the gay and lesbian community during July 1999 (in Townsville) has prompted ATAC to work on an anti-homophobic CSA which hopefully will be released nationally in August 1999.
